If I make my son a authorized user on my credit card, wil his bad credit history effectmy credit history?

Question: If I make my son a authorized user on my credit card, wil his bad credit history effectmy credit history? I'm trying to help my son establish credit. He has negative credit history from cell phone companies, no other credit. I understand making him a authorized user (not a joint account) of one of mycredit cards will put that card's history on his report, as if it is his card. However, what I need to know, is will his negative history show on my credit report by making him an authorized user?

Answer: -Just an authotized user will not put the history on his credit report as heis not responsible for paying the bills for it all kinds of people have their kids as a useryou have to make him a joint account holder of the card in order to do that -No it won't hurt your credit, only his if you don't pay your bill. Be careful, make sure they will report it to his credit report. My mother added me as an authoriaed user to her Target Visa she's got a $7K limit, it didn't help at all. Target doesn't report authorized users. I've since found out the Citibank South Dakota does so she added me to her Home Depot account and other accounts held by Citibank, I've got my fingers crossed, they've yet to added to my report. -No. As an authorized user, any good or bad credit history on that card will go to his credit history but it doesn't work the other way around.
