Question: Can anyone reccommend a UK personal finance company that can help me? Bad Credit but reasonably high income...I would like to get my debt under control and out of the way once and for all - it's about £11k, and I'm really only paying interest off. My income after tax is about £1400 per month. I have a mortgage but don't want a secured loan as I don't want my partner to have to co-apply (don't worry - she knows what I'm doing!!!). I have one default from about 6 months ago which I think is holding me back. As soon as any of the lenders hear I'm a homeowner they only want to sell secured loans to me. Does anyone have experience of a lender who offered them an unsecured loan despite poor credit history for a similar amount?
Answer: -Most people assume that, because they have bad credit, a bank won't lend them money. Whilst this is often true, it really does depend on your individual circumstances. But having bad credit usually means having to pay a higher rate of interest, so be aware of that. Most of these companies (eg. Surefire Finance, Wentworth Finance) that CLAIM to offer finance to people with poor credit don't actually offer the loans themselves, they just introduce you to people who do, and for that they charge an admin fee.Check out the site below; there are loads of companies listed here that specialise in finance for people with bad credit. When you contact them you can ask if they do the loans themselves or if they pass you on. -You might try contacting one of the charities that help with debt and credit problems in the UK. These services are free. They have locations in many local areas and also free telephone help.I recommend working with them first. -Apply online at www.surefirefinance.co.uk I had 3 defaults and they helped me get an unsecured loan, I have used them ever since as their service is great and they are very helpful.
