Instead of a prepaid card, go with a secured card. A prepaid card isn't a real credit card and it won't help your credit. A secured card will increase your credit score and after a few months of paying n time. The bank will turn it into a regular card and also, you get your money back that you initially put on it. You have to put money on it only when you first get it so that in case you default on a payment, they take from that and also, there's no limit on what you can put on it. I put $500 on mine.
