Question: How Do You Fix Canadian Bad Credit?I got a credit card when I was 18 and went buck wild. I'm now 24 and paying it off for the 3rd time (and getting rid of the damned thing). I've also had a few collection agents come after me for stupid things (library fines), as well as having been in arears twice with said credit card.Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?? How long will it take to repair my credit?
Answer: -I would guess that it would be the same way in any country..in the USA you dispute what doesn't belong and pay off your debt... -Fixing credit is the same anywhere...Pay what you owe as fast as you can. When you are debt free, establish credit by getting a credit card and WHEN YOU HAVE THE MONEY IN THE BANK TO COVER THE BILL, you can buy something with your credit card, then pay it off right away. Over time your credit and credit limit will rise, and your credit score will get better. But NEVER pay late, Never pay the minimum balance only, Never buy on credit, that which you do not have the cash on hand to pay the bill. -First, make sure all the information on your credit report is accurate. Second, try to pay off all or any accounts that are currently in collections or make payment arrangements with the creditor to pay off the balance monthly.Third, any credit card that is over 50% of the available credit line should be paid down to under half of your total credit line. Your credit score is lowered when your available balance is over 50% of your total credit line. Finally, if you have bad or no credit and have no credit cards try to obtain two credit cards and make sure all of your monthly payments are made on time. This will help increase your credit score. If you cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain a secured credit card.Repairing your credit and improving your credit score is a slow process that takes time.
