Question: How do you find out what your credit score is?I know how to get a free credit report, but it doesn't include the FICO score. Does anyone know of a reliable internet (or other) source to obtain the credit score? I've followed a few links but they all cost money and seem to be some kind of scam to get you to enroll in a credit monitoring service for $xx per month, which I don't need. It seems like lenders really rely on credit scores, but shouldn't a consumer have easy access to their own.
Answer: If you contact the credit bureaus (any of the 3 of them-where you can get your free credit report once a year, no charge), you can get the score for a small fee. You don't have to "sign up" for any monitoring services if you go directly through the credit bureaus.check out annualcreditreport.com. they provide you with free score once a year. however your fico score will cost you about 7.00 to view unless you know a mortgage broker that will do it for you for free for instance if your looking for a loan.The US Government has mandated that the three major credit bureaus offer the service to everyone in the United States once each year. The name of this site is www.annualcreditreport.com.Since it is government mandated it requires a whole host of hoops to jump through. You do not actually get your credit scores, and it can take 7-10 days to receive the information. All in all not very consumer friendly. Guess that is what happens when a big company is required to do something they do not want to do.Here is how I got my Credit Report and Score from all 3 bureaus for free.I went to http://faqfaq.net/FreeCreditReport.html and signed up for their service.It took like 3 minutes! They give you 7 Days for Free to try the service.So I just canceled the next day after printing out everything I needed.Easy and Free.
