Answer: -I've never heard of getting a free credit report other than going to www.annualcreditreport.com. This is the site that was created when the gov't passed the law entitling all persons in the US to get one credit report per agency (Experian, Equifax, Transunion) per year free. This site does this. I used to go to their respective websites, but no longer have to. Now I get a free report each 4 months (each of the agencies) - and have repeated for the last 2 years.The other services that I've heard of (for example, radio commercials at www.freecreditreport.com) is actually a credit monitoring service. Yes, you do get a free credit report, but you have to sign up for their service - I think you get a certain period of time, and then are charged after that unless you cancel. Why do this when you can get for free anyway?The www.annualcreditreport.com does not give out credit score for free, however. But you do have the option for buying for something like $8. (oooohhhh....a whopping $8). It's worth it from time to time. -You need to write all 3 credit reporting agencies (Experian and I forgot the other two) You want someone to steal your identity? Do not put any personal information on the computer because people will steal your identity! -Go straight to the credit agencies themselves. The 3 major ones are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
