Question: Monitor goes black at times, then comes back. The power is not going off. Why!?It's a Daewoo monitor. 17" TFT LCD- I've sent it back, they found no problems. Isn't that just typical? The problem stems from the room it sits in. It's filled with electronics. A computer, big 60 watt guitar amplifier, a credit card machine that has a MASSIVE "wall wart" adapter, puter spkrs with floor subwoofer, two power strips. Moving the monitor to another computer gets rid of the problem. So it's the room! What can I do to get rid of whatever interference I'm getting? Bad shielding? Filters? All suggestions appreciated.
Answer: -Bad video cable, or failing video board on your computer. Maybe you are running a game or something that switches resolutions, this causes the screen to go blank.Maybe the power saving feature of the computer is acting up, shutting off the monitor through the control line in the video cable. This usually results in the power LED flashing. Disable the monitor power down feature in the power saving settings.Your LED back light or back light power inverter may be failing and it just didn't happen at the shop. You may notice an ozone (lightning storm) smell when this happens due to the inverter transformer arcing. All electronics are powered by smoke, I know this because after the smoke is let out it always quits working. -Not much unless you move the computer or hire an electrician to wire a dedicated outlet for the computer in the current room. Anything magnetic needs to be moved as far away from the computer as possible( i.e. large speakers.) -Did you try changing the monitor cable? Is the monitor cable too close to power lines? Is the monitor cable firmly affixed on both sides? It may also be a problem with your computers Graphics card. Check if the computer works OK with another monitor.
