Question: I have 1 year credit history and my FICO score is 651 by TRANS UNION so is it good? Actully i have started using credit cards since January of this year.
Answer: -Now for the correct answer.Credit scores are made up by the following factors;1. Payment history 35%2. Time in bureau 15%3. Types of credit 10%4. New credit 10%5. Debt to credit ratio 30%As you can see 1,2&5 are the most important as far as score goes but you need much more then just score you also need a great profile. To do this you will need 3 credit card accounts (revolving) with balances below 30% of your credit limit and 2 cars, boats, homes, furniture or personal accounts (installment) all with good long pay history's.I look at credit every day and see people every month with 700 scores that can not buy a car because their score is based on 1 credit card with a $500.00 limit paid 15 times and a couple of student loans. While this profile generates a great score it does not show the ability or the willingness to actually pay any one.So to actually answer you question, without seeing what makes up your score no one can tell you if you have good credit or not. But for only 1 years in the bureau your score is good. -Depends on who you talk to, trans union would say pretty good, equifax would say anything less than 700 is not good. I have 7 derogatory accounts on my bureau and score of 636, and I have been declined for credit so I don't actually think 651 is that great??!!!!??? -651 is OK...kind of medium...the average score is 679. The positive is that TransUnion is your lowest of the 3 scores...so your actually score that banks will go by is usually higher.
